    The Margaret Laurence Fund

       In the last decade of her life Margaret Laurence turned her talent andpassion to the cause of peace and the environment. Many of her efforts were directed through her work at the Energy Probe Research Foundation, where she served with distinction as a director.
       To celebrate her accomplishments and carry on her work, ourFoundation, with the support of her family, established the Margaret Laurence Fund. Through this fund, grants and scholarships are made to foster an understanding of peace and the environment upon which the fate of this fragile planet rests. Recipients of the grants and scholarships are limited to students, authors, researchers, and publishers, working with the Foundation in collaborative projects approved by the directors.

    The Margaret Laurence Society

       This web resource is dedicated to the study of Margaret Laurence's life and her writing. It is designed to complement the printed version of the Margaret Laurence Newsletter and the Margaret Laurence Review. TheMargaret Laurence Society was formed at the Modern Language Association Special Session "Margaret Laurence: A Tribute" held in San Francisco, December 27, 1987.

    The Margaret Laurence Home

       Located in Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada, the Margaret Laurence Home has been open to the public for 10 years. This is the home of a world renowned author containing memorabilia and personal items belonging to Margaret Laurence. This home features the Margaret Laurence room and ManawakaSouvenir & Gift Shop. Books and crafts are available to purchase. School group tours are available upon request.
       The cost is a donation of $1.00 per person. The Margaret Laurence Home is open from May 1 to October 10.

    The Margaret Laurence Award for Excellence

       Almost 500 people across the province volunteer as tutors in more thaneighty literacy programs that give clients individual attention. Their efforts have gone largely unacknowledged until now. In recognition of dedication, theMargaret Laurence Award for Excellence will be given to two volunteers -1 urban and 1 rural representative.
       Margaret Laurence is one of Manitoba's most widely read authors. Her family has permitted the creation of a literacy award in her name.
       The inaugural presentation will take place at the Margaret Laurence House in Neepawa on International Literacy Day, September 8, 1996 at 2 p.m.
       Nominees should be Volunteer Literacy Tutors who have demonstrated caring, commitment. and ability in assisting adults to read.
